Yes, indeed the spectator's references work as interpretation for such a scene, and I'd like someone to tell me whether mine functions better or worse than another one. I'd love to read another, and different, understanding of Awaara's dream!

Amazing observations. It is we who perceived that fearsome structure as Demon and his abode as hell! Maybe RAk Kapoor wanted to project so. Alas, my knowledge of hindi is not good enough yet (by far!) and in spite of my studiously learning it, to be able to read your blog! It does help to have the transcription, of course, but I'll probably have to wait another two or three years before I can read fluently - or hope for a stay in India one of these years!
